The Center For Advancing Health (CFAH) recently conducted an analysis in which it (among other things) ranked cities by how much cannabis they consume annually. CFAH describes itself as a “team of health experts specializing in different medical fields and writing about various medical topics.”
CFAH’s analysis was further examined by media outlet Insider Monkey, with the media outlet filtering out results for U.S. cities.
“To keep our list relevant, we have only selected larger cities with populations of 200,000 or more. When two cities had the same consumption of weed, we ranked them by their price per gram of weed instead.” Insider Monkey stated. Below is their ranked list:
- New York City, NY – 62.3 metric tons annually
- Los Angeles, CA – 35 metric tons annually
- Chicago, IL – 24.9 metric tons annually
- Houston, TX – 18.5 metric tons annually
- Phoenix, AZ – 11.4 metric tons annually
- Philadelphia, PA – 10.6 metric tons annually
- Denver, CO – 6.8 metric tons annually
- Portland, Oregon – 5 metric tons annually
